Murray pulls out of Italian Open

ROME – Andy Murray has decided to pull out of the Italian Open in Rome due to fatigue. The Briton had been thinking about skipping the tournament prior to yesterday’s second round match, to concentrate on preparations for the French Open at the end of the month.

Murray revealed in a tweet that he was sorry to pull out of the tournament however cited his busy recent schedule which has seen him win 10 consecutive matches and two trophies in the past fortnight.

“Warming up today, I didn’t feel able to compete,” said the Briton on twitter. “I hope next year I can comeback to Rome and do better.”

As a result Murray’s third round opponent David Goffin will advance to the quarter-finals where he will be joined by Rafael Nadal who beat the big-serving John Isner, 6-4, 6-4 on Wednesday.
