Fiumicino airport closed following fire

ROME – Rome’s premier airport was closed on Thursday morning following a fire, which broke out in a storage area, airport officials said.
The fire was discovered at 10pm on Wednesday evening in an underground area of Terminal 3, which services international flights. Officials rapidly evacuated the airport and there have been no reported casualties.
Fiumicino airport is set to remain closed until 2pm, with the majority of Thursday’s flights cancelled.
