Germanwings flight makes emergency landing in Venice

Venice – A GermanWings jetliner on a flight from Hannover to Rome with 149 people aboard made an emergency landing at Venice Marco Polo airport Friday after a passenger and a crew member were taken ill, airport officials said.

“When we landed at Venice, the captain told us that two people were not well, a crew member and a passenger,” one of the passengers aboard flight 4U 3882, Eugenio Bartolini, a school teacher, said.

“The embarkation was smooth and the plane took off from Hannover with about 10 minutes’ delay. We flew over the Alps and should have followed the route Verona-Bologna-Rome. We saw the plane progressively descend and finally the lagoon of Venice appeared, where we landed.”

Medical staff boarded the aircraft and a woman passenger apparently suffering from a panic attack was comforted. It was not immediately known what was wrong with the crew membe
