Federica Mogherini to visit Finland

Federica Mogherini, former Foreign Minister of Italy, will visit Finland on 5th March.

Mogherini, now High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, will visit Finland at the invitation of Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja. High Representative Mogherini will have talks with Foreign Minister Tuomioja, and meet President of the Republic Sauli Niinistö and Prime Minister Alexander Stubb.

The programme of the visit also includes meetings with Speaker of the Finnish Parliament Eero Heinäluoma, the Minister of Finance Antti Rinne, the Minister for Defence Carl Haglund and the Minister for International Development Sirpa Paatero.

The programme also includes a public event, organized by the European Movement in Finland, the Finnish Committee for European Security (STETE), The Civil Society Conflict Prevention Network (KATU) and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. The theme of the event is the EU’s role as a peace builder and a contributor to efforts for solution of conflicts and crises.
