Christmas arrives at St Peter’s

VATICAN CITY – At over 25 metres high, the Calabrian Christmas tree which was installed at St Peter’s on Thursday dominates the iconic square.

Placed next to the obelisk in the centre of St Peter’s Square, the tree has been donated to Pope Francis and the Catholic Church by the Calabria region.

The tree was put in place by a team of workers and a crane early on Thursday morning.
