Stray dogs attack a woman as she goes for run in park

ROME-Three stray dogs have attacked a woman on her jog through a Roman park.

Whilst running in Marcigliana park in the Eternal City, 43-year-old Nanziata was bitten and tortured for half an hour before being saved by a passerby.

“Whilst I was running three dogs jumped out, one of which was very big and angry and they began to attack me”, recalled a trembling Nunzia, still in shock after the attack. “They bit me everywhere, my legs, my arms. No one came past. I didn’t have the strength to get up.”

Alessandro Rosati, who found Nunzia in the wake of her attack, told reporters how he got off his bike and scared away the three dogs with a stick. Mr Rosati gave her his t-shirt and called for help. “It was 0730, the woman had been attacked for half an hour. She said to me that no-one had passed by. Her body was covered in injuries.”

The three strays are said to have been captured and are being held in an animal shelter. A park ranger explained that the increased violence was due to the fact that one of the strays had killed other park animals.
