'Who is on Next?'

ROME-‘Who Is On Next?’, the scouting project established in 2005 conceived and organized by Altaroma  along with  Vogue Italia, will be celebrating its 10th anniversary this year with Who Is On Next?.

10th Anniversary Who Is On Next? rewards the commitment, determination and identity of each individual, by giving voice to their personal expressive skills as an interpretation of our times. Furthermore, the exhibition, showcasing not only the debut but also current creations of the 45 designers invited to participate is there to remind us that, first and foremost, fashion is about change.

Today, among the many designers who have given life to these 10 editions of “Who Is On Next?”, the curatorship of this exhibition intends to celebrate not only the work undertaken by Altaroma and Vogue Italia but, above all, to honour all those who, thanks to the project, have found an expressive outlet for their talent in this city, including new production units in our country and commercial realities on an international level.

The exhibition, promoted by Roma Capitale (the Municipality of Rome), Assessorato alla Cultura, Creatività e Promozione Artistica-Sovrintendenza Capitolina ai Beni Culturali and by Assessorato Roma Produttiva, is hosted at the Museo di Roma Palazzo Braschi from July 15th to September 11th.

Altaroma, 10 years invested in the search for creativity, thus contributes in the making of a city of art and culture such as Rome a breeding ground for new ideas and energies, targeted at promoting the preservation of artisanal excellence and our production history by showcasing creations that rightfully deserve the title of Made in Italy.

If, historically speaking the origins of Rome marked the beginning of the civilized world, with traces that are still visible in every part of the globe, if, since time immemorial, its natural curiosity made it open to different cultures which it never attempted to suppress but rather to integrate by reciprocal contamination, by respecting the origins of each and every one in a bid to create a cultural unification and a new European civilization, it comes as no surprise that, as a consequence, there arose in Rome a desire to discover new talents to shape tomorrow’s fashion industry.

What better aspiration than that of being “reborn” in a city that is synonymous with eternity, beauty and luxury?

Vogue Italia, a partner of excellence, distinguished by its unfailing ability to convey contemporary lifestyles by promoting a new generation of fashion as part and parcel of its clear-cut, forward-looking vision while simultaneously adopting a daring though concrete approach.

Who is on next? , a scouting project targeted at new fashion talents.

Since 2005 to-date, over 100 designers have emerged from this scouting project and selection process. Italians and foreigners have chosen this country to realize their creations and make their dreams come true. In fact, here they have found master saddle makers, textile districts and premium quality footwear manufacturers, leather goods makers and companies which, thanks to their expertise and professionalism, are capable of giving life to signature collections, empowering young talents and offering them a foothold in luxury markets, thanks to expert manufacturing techniques and Italian craftsmanship.

Many companies have found new resources in these talents while countless heads of creative departments have exploited this new lifeblood to further develop their business by injecting their historic brands with a more contemporary approach.

Thus “Who Is On Next?”, decreed by the Financial Times as one of the 10 “World’s Most Important Fashion Prizes”, has made a name for itself on an international level as a platform of the new wave of Italian fashion, using the competition as a means of matching strengths, exchanging ideas and often of creating synergies, giving life to collaborations and partnerships between various creative bodies.
