Trenitalia launches 2014 summer programme

ROME-Frecce Trenitalia announced Friday a new summer initiative offering more travel opportunities and destinations to clients at a press conference held at Termini station.

With a ten percent increase of ticket sales in comparison to 2013 and an estimated 23 million Italians expected to travel with Trenitalia from June to September, a ‘summer package’ has been organised with new routes and travel opportunities “allowing passengers to enjoy the summer in an economic and comfortable way”, said Trenitalia spokesperson earlier today.

Termini station will remain the hub of Frecce AV (Frecciarossa and Frecciargento) with 213 trains running daily throughout Italy-195 of which are high speed trains-that link to major cities such as Turin, Milan, Bologna, Florence, Naples, Venice, Padua and Verona.

The 2014 initiative, which is due to start Sunday, provides more links to typical summer destinations with reduced travel times and some ten thousand more available places with respect to 2013. An example being the new route which has been created starting from Milan Central, stopping in Reggio Emilia, Bologna and finally arriving at Florence in just under 2 hours.

Other new connections include travelling from Turin/Milan to Riccione and from Milan to Senigallia/Cattolica.

Two more Frecciarossa (fast trains) will also be available to clients for the summer, which will be travelling from Milan, Reggio Emilia, Bologna and arriving at Rimini, Pesaro and Ancona respectively.

In addition to increased travel routes and number of trains, Trenitalia are also providing a range of summer promotions. Some of the offers include; free travel for children under the age of 15, weekend and daily return tickets starting from 69 euros and 2-for-1 offers on Saturdays.
