Biggest industrial production increase
ROME-Italian industrial production increased by 0.7 percent in April, a rise of 1.6 percent compared to the previous year. The national statistics agency, Istat, reveals that it is the biggest yearly rise since 2011.
By analysing the main industry groupings, Istat marks an increase in energy sectors (+3.0 percent), consumer goods (+2.2 percent) and intermediate goods (+0.5 percent) in April of this year.
The increase has exceeded analyst predictions, who expected a more moderate growth. Istat reveals those with the biggest increases were the steel industry (+ 7.1 percent) the food industry, (+5.8 percent) and the public transport industry (+ 3.4 percent).
