Italy's centre-left sweeps European polls

ROME -Prime Minister Matteo Renzi's Democratic Party scored a stunning victory in European elections Monday garnering some 40 percent to crush the opposition M5S party and Forza Italia, according to exit polls.

Grillo's grouping had an estimated 22 percent of the vote while SIlvio Berlusconi's Forza Italia had an estimated 15 percent of votes, according to the predictions.
