ROME-The American University of Rome will honour the 1200th anniversary of Charlemagne’s death hosting a one-of-a-kind heritage tourism Masterclass.

The aim of the 5-day workshop, organised in partnership with the Istituto Italiano di Studi Germanici and Zètema, is to “turn Charlemagne into an asset for Rome.” Between May 5-9, a group of twenty participants – students, recent graduates, and professionals – will work on conceptualising and marketing the asset, drawing equally on European and American practice.

At the end of the Masterclass, the results will be presented to the representatives of the municipality of Rome, and used for tourist development purposes during the conference titled “Lost renaissance? The legacy of Charlemagne in Rome and its future” at the Istituto di Studi Germanici on May 9.

The deadline for participant applications has now been extended to April 20.
