Mafia controls 70 percent of central Roman restaurants

ROME - Nearly 70 percent of the bars and restaurants operating in the central district of Rome are believed to be "in the hands of organised crime," according to the president of Rome's central district, Sabrina Alfonsi.
 
The district president has stated that data obtained from assoications and representatives detail that almost 70 percent of central Roman bars and restaurants are operated by organised crime associations.
 
However, Rome's central district is not the only one plagued by corruption and criminal infiltration. Recently all 15 of Rome's district presidents signed a protocol with the daSud association aimed at preventing and combatting criminal infiltration in the city.
