Bahçeşehir Centre in Rome furthers Turkish University's global expansion

ROME--Turkey's Bahçeşehir College has established a partnership with La Sapienza University advancing its intention to have 350 schools in three continents by 2023. Its educational and cultural centre in a Sapienza owned position in downtown Rome will be closely linked to Bahçeşehir University research center for civilizations and Turk-Vatican relations. "We aim to become one of the biggest educational institutions in the world," says Enver Yücel, chairman of the Board of Bahcesehir Uğur Educational Institution.
Providing a wider knowledge of the Turkish language, history and culture are just some of the aims of the university which "wants students to learn by combining standard knowledge with 21st century skills," according to Yücel. A bilingual education system, ongoing teacher training and educational technology from the kindergarten to university level helps integrate basic skills with creativity and cooperation at global standards in their new Digital School Program.
Bahçeşehir College and Uğur Educational Institutions currently have 42 campuses and 94 schools in 7 regions of Turkey. In this academic year, there will be eight more new schools in Turkey which means a 150 million euro investment in education.
Yücel explained that this move towards a global reach has always been part of the development plan of the university which opened in 1994 and is an innovative move based on making a big change in the understanding of education. "We will go forward without compromising our principals," says Yücel.
