Prosecco vineyards a hit for Japanese tourists

TREVISO - The first 100 tourists from Japan will arrive in Treviso to visit the Prosecco DOC vineyards between June and July as a result of the long-standing collaboration between the Consorzio di Tutela della DOC Prosecco and Hankyu Travel International, one of the most important travel agencies in Japan, founded in the Osaka region in 1948.

After a stop in Venice, they will visit some Prosecco DOC wine cellars and explore the city of Treviso and taste some of the dishes that characterise the Treviso’s rich food and wine offerings.

A few months ago, the Consortium hosted a delegation sent by the Japanese Agency, allowing them to discover the most emblematic places of the Prosecco DOC denomination territories, which included several wineries.

"We are proud," emphasises Stefano Zanette, President of the Prosecco DOC consortium, "of the interest shown both by Japanese tour operators and by the tourists themselves, whom we will be delighted to receive when they arrive to discover places rich in history, art and beauty, but also products that are unique in the world, such as our Prosecco DOC."

"If a good day is seen from the morning," Zanette concludes, "this is an excellent start. We are planning the arrival of three more important tour operators from Japan, who will soon carry out new visits to our areas, with the aim of including Treviso and the wineries located in the Prosecco DOC territory in future tourist itineraries, starting as early as the end of this year.”
