ROME – Giulia Tramontano, a 29-year-old pregnant woman was found brutally murdered in Milan by her two-timing fiancé, a former barman at an Armani hotel, after being reported missing last Sunday, sparking outrage throughout Italy as it emerged the killer had carried on a separate relationship at the same time with a young British woman he also got pregnant.

Her boyfriend, Alessandro Impagnatiello, under police questioning confessed to stabbing his 7-month-pregnant girlfriend three times before trying to burn her body two separate times and leaving the mutilated body in some plastic bags behind some garages, around 100 meters from where he murdered her.

He told the Carabinieri where the body was, without showing any remorse, according to the police reports.

The public prosecutor Alessia Menegazzo, head of the investigation, and adjunct prosecutor Letizia Mannella have told the media that Impagnatiello is being accused of aggravated murder, concealment of a corpse, abortion without consent and premeditation and after being arrested was taken to Milan's San Vittore prison.

The police report showed that he had tried to burn the body twice once in the bathtub with alcohol, then tried to meet with his other, English girlfriend with whom he was having an affair to tell her he was a ‘free man,' after which he transported the body to another area near their house where he tried again with petrol.

He said the reason for the murder is that Giulia Tramontano had mental problems and would not let him leave and got pregnant with another man in an attempt to entrap him.

This claim has since been debunked by the investigation which showed that Alessandro was leading a double life and had two girlfriends simultaneously, and when Giulia discovered his mistress and confronted him, he planned her murder.

He also tried to deny the murder at first, claiming she had run away and going as far as sending text messages to her friends and family from her phone announcing her departure, however when being questioned his alibi quickly proved false, as he gave the police a non-existent address.

The release of the gruesome details of the murder has caused widespread outrage in Italy, as Giulia is only one of the 45 victims of femicide in Italy this year.

The judge in the case said, “It is this society that still justifies the man who kills”.
