Woman, 47, stabs to death 'aggressor, '79, confesses six days later

COSENZA - Alleged attempt of rape ends in Rocco Gioffrè 79-year-old death by the hand of 47-year-old activist and neighbor Tiziana Mirabelli. “They were often seen together [...] he used to pay her bills,” stated Gioffrè’s attorney.

Tiziana Mirabelli confessed the murder on Feb.22, six days after committing it. She told to the officers it was yet another attempt on the man’s side to violate her, which this time resulted in a fatality. According to Mirabelli, Goffrè had brought a knife with him that day, who he later used to menace the woman after her rejection.

That same knife became the weapon of the murder as she later used it against her aggressor.

Gioffrè’s attorney Francesco Gelsomino underlined the long period that passed between the murder and the confession and later stated “ He used to pay her bills and they were often seen together. Gioffrè’s sons had seen him for the last time on Monday (he was killed on Tuesday), but they still received messages from his phone, convincing them not to call the Carabinieri. An event that raised their concerns as Gioffrè would never message them, but rather call on the spot.

Those who knew Mirabelli described her, as a woman full of passion for her job in the social cooperative, despite being “grown in a disadvantaged position, she remained constant on social matters, always being on the frails side” ANSA reports.

She is now staying in the prison of Castrovillari in Calabria.
