NEW JERSEY – Måneskin, the Roman glam rock band, won the Best Alternative Video at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night, Italian newspapers reported.

 Måneskin became famous on an international level after winning Eurovision 2021. This marks the first time for an Italian group to receive the prestigious MTV prize. The award was granted for the music video ‘I wanna be your slave.’

 "It's extraordinary. We didn't expect it. It is an honor. There were many great artists competing," said the band's vocalist, Damiano David.

 During the gala, the Italian group took the stage at the Prudential Center in Newark in New Jersey to perform their new hit, ‘Supermodel.’

 Måneskin also received a nomination for Best New Artist, however American actress, Dove Cameron won the prize. The top honor at MTV's annual Video Music Awards was Taylor Swift’s 10-minute version of her breakup 2012 song ‘All too well.’
