Prime Minister Monti to visit Finland
ROME- The Prime Minister of Italy, Mario Monti, will visit Finland on early August on the invitation of Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen, who met him in Rome last April.
On Aug. 1, the premiers will meet in the Prime Minister's official residence, Kesäranta, to discuss the economic situation in the EU and the countries' bilateral relations.
During his visit, Prime Minister Monti will also meet President of the Republic Sauli Niinistö, Speaker of Parliament Eero Heinäluoma and chairmen of the key parliamentary committees.
More detailed information on the programme will be made available on Monday morning, July 30. Accreditation is required for media representatives and photographers intending to follow Prime Minister Katainen's and Prime Minister Monti's press conference in Kesäranta. Accreditation takes places via the Finnish Government Communications Unit media service beginning on Monday morning July 30 at 10.00 and closing on Tuesday afternoon July 31 at 15.00.
Some weeks ago, Monti accused the northern countries of the euro increased distrust in the euro region. Finnish Minister of Finances Jutta Urpilainen had stated shortly after in an interview that Finnish and Italian relations are still good and that Monti had accepted Mrs. Urpilainen’s invitation to visit Finland.
