Polish Cardinal delivers ambulance to Kiev on Holy Thursday

 KIEV - Cardinal Almoner Konrad Krajewski traveled to the capital of Ukraine for the third time on the Sunday morning to provide a second ambulance to the city, according to an Apostolic Almsgiving press release.
 The gift of the ambulance us due to be delivered on Holy Thursday, which has a symbolic meaning. “It recalls the gesture of closeness and service performed by Jesus during the Last Supper, on the eve of his Passion, when girding himself only with a towel, he washed the feet of his disciples,” explained the announcement. Through this gesture of relief, the pope wishes to support Ukrainian women and men wounded by the war and testify his closeness.
 Cardinal Konrad Krajewski will spend the Easter Week in Ukraine, meeting local people and celebrating the Easter Triduum (the three days of Church services leading up to Easter Sunday).
 “The delivery of the ambulance belongs to the gestures of the ‘magisterium of the heart’ with which Pope Francis wants to serve the Church." However, the Apostolic Charity Office highlighted in the announcement, it is not meant to be a single act, but an invitation for whole Church to enter Holy Week with the attitude of humility.
