LA SPEZIA – The new manager of Poland’s national team Czeslaw Michiniewicz met with two compatriot footballers from Spezia Calcio, Arkadiusz Reca and Jakub Kiwior, to discuss their possible addition to the national team, sports sources said.

 Michniewicz replaced Paulo Sousa to became the manager of the Polish national team in January. He is currently preparing for the world play-off in March, in which both Poland and Italy  will be taking part. Poland has been put in group B and its next match will be against Russia in the hope of qualifying for the final Reca has already played in the national team, but for Kiwior it will be a debut.

 La Spezia was a one of the first destinations for Polish national team trainer. He sat down to dinner with the two players on Feb. 8, as part of a wider European tour, after having already met with Zurkowski, Skorupski, Zielinski, Szczesny and Glik. 

 During a press conference on Jan. 1, Michiniewicz confirmed that he planned to meet with the main footballers of the national team. First on the list was Robert Lewandowski out of respects for his remarkable achievements and talent. “I will have to rely on those players who give personality to the whole team, but I don't close the door on anyone" he added. “That’s why two footballers from Spezia Calcio have opportunity to join the national squad in March.”

 Arkadiusz Reca played his first match in the Polish national team against Italy in Dall’Ara in 2018. His football career was paused because of an injury in 2021 and he was unable to play from summer to autumn, including in the European Championships. Now that the 26-year-old footballer has recovered, it is likely that he will return to play for his country. 

 Michaniewicz was Jakub Kiwior’s first under-21 trainer in 2020. When Kiwior was 16 he had already played abroad starting in Belgium. Then he was transferred to Slovakia. He was bought by MSK Zilina for 2.2 million euros, testifying to his exceptional skill.
