Illegal rave occurs in hotbed of Delta-variant

LODI - Over 700 youngsters, coming mostly from northern Italy, illegally raved, without masks and social-distancing, in the ex-quarry of Geroletta, at Maleo. They broke fences and padlocks, in order to enter. Those who attended are currently being identified and reported.

The party-goers arrived at the ‘rave party’ at around 11 p.m on Saturday 27th, after having got off the train at Codogno. The rave was a total violation of the anti-Covid regulations. In exactly this area, in the past few days, the ‘Ats’ have confirmed the presence of three cases of the Delta-variant of the coronavirus, in a hotbed of 11 infected. They left on Sunday afternoon, leaving bottles, paper and rubbish on the floor. The public prosecutor’s office, meanwhile, has identified and reported some of the rave organisers.

Onboard a lorry, the organisers brought music speakers and lights to illuminate the area as well as for the selling of alcohol. Around 50 members of the military, carabinieri agents, police and fiscal police came to the scene to check that there were no accidents. They, together with the mayor: Dante Sguazzi, tried to mediate: convincing those present to leave the area. Despite their efforts, the people at the rave refused to go, saying that they were against all anti-covid rules.

“Even now some people are there and, unfortunately, they are dispersing everywhere, some drunk or high and someone, at Maleo, has already reported people who used the communal playground for their ‘physiological needs’. Let’s hope that all of this stops soon,” said Sguazzi.
