 ROME -- The restoration work to the capital’s Spanish Steps, a key landmark of The Eternal City, has now finished, and the stairway was reopened for public use Thursday.

 The grand stairway of 135 steps leading up from Piazza di Spagna, arguably the most famous square in Rome, to the Trinità dei Monti church, have been successfully restored after almost four months of restoration work.

 The restoration process began May 30, 2016, and the steps were blocked off from the public for the duration of that period. The barriers were finally taken away Thursday.

 GENOA -- The Consortium set up and led by Ansaldo Energia, a company based in this northern Italian city, in collaboration with FATA, part of the Danieli Group, has successfully completed the construction of the second electric power plant in South Africa, energy company sources said Thursday.

 The plant, located in Avon, near Durban, forms part of the “Peakers Project”, an initiative promoted by the South African Energy Ministry and assigned to a Consortium led by Engie as an Independent Power Producer.

 BERLIN -- A collaboration agreement has been signed in Berlin between Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane and Argentine Railways, railway sources said Thursday.

 The agreement signed Wednesday in Berlin at InnoTrans by the CEO of FS, Renato Mazzoncini, and the President of Argentine Railways, Guillermo Fiad, will primarily involve the implementation of railway cooperation projects, the performance of consultancy services, the implementation of training activities and the certification of railway components.
