MARRAKESH -- The 22nd session of the Conference of Parties (COP 22) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change is scheduled to take place in Marrakesh from Nov. 7-18.

 

 Unlike COP 21, which completely ignored agriculture, COP 22 will take the subject into account, albeit only marginally.

 VENICE -- The ‘Picasso-Méditerranée’ project has begun in Venice, an international convention dedicated to the study of the life and works of Pablo Picasso, held over a two-day period at the Giorgio Cini Foundation.

 From Thursday to Friday, supported by the Institute of the History of Art and in collaboration with the Picasso Museum of Paris, directors of the most prestigious international museums which house the works of the great artist shall celebrate and commemorate the masterpieces of Pablo Picasso.

 PALERMO -- A total of 29 migrants were saved and 12 corpses have been found so far early Thursday morning, whilst rescuers and survivors believe 239 are still to be found in the sea.

 Five boats, two private tug boats, a Frontex unit, one from the Eunavformed Sophia mission, and a ‘Save the Children’ boat immediately attended the scene of the migrant shipwreck 25 miles north of the Libyan coast to provide emergency rescue services, coordinated by the Roman Coastal Guard. An Italian Navy chopper was also on hand.

 ROME -- Pensée Visible presents Italo Calvino’s ‘Palomar’ in Teatro dell’Orologio of the Eternal City from Nov. 12 to 13.

 The play is based upon the great work of one of Italy’s finest writers, yet with a twist. The piece is performed on a miniature theatre of card, in which designs and characters are proportional to the scale of the theatre.

 This form of theatre, popular in England throughout the 19th century, has today been reborn and given new life, becoming a way of enhancing the poetic word.
