AMATRICE- No matter where you live you will find many Italian restaurant and groceries. High demand for Italian food and delicacies, some of the most requested on the planet, has created a significant supply of counterfeit foodstuff and restaurants posing as ‘Italian’, but being so in little but their name, especially in regions with high numbers of Italian immigrants.
ROME- Robert Jenkins, UNICEF representative in Jordan, talked Wednesday about the treatment of child refugees in the Kingdom and strategies that the organisation has put into place to ensure that the situation does not lead to a “lost generation”. The support the Italian government gives to UNICEF was also highlighted.
CALVISANO- The aggressor of a 22 years old German tourist has been arrested in Calvisano, near Brescia. The culprit, a promising Italian rugby player of twenty years of age, has been accused of assault, and has now been placed under house arrests.
RIO DI JANEIRO- Brazilian Attorney General Rodrigo Janot has brought charges with the Supreme Court against the former presidents of the Republic, Dilma Rousseff and Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, under whose government the current head of the FAO, José Graziano da Silva, was a minister.
The investigation is taking place in the context of the investigation by Lava Jato regarding the black funds Petrobras, and the local group of the Mani Pulite. Lula and Dilma, along with other six major members of their Workers' Party, have also been charged with being associated to the crimes.

ROME- Following the decision to reinstate and substitute of the Italian ambassador for Egypt, previously recalled in protest in April 2016, tensions between the two nations over the Giulio Regeni case seem to have diluted. The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has justified this decision by stressing the renewed judicial cooperation with Cairo over this delicate case.
BRESCIA- Hospital authorities were investigating Wednesday the death of a girl, aged 4, from malaria with concerns that she could have caught it in hospital from other patients.
Authorities fear that the disease may be contagious. Italian minister of health, Beatrice Lorenzin, made a statement saying: “from the first indications that showed that the child may have caught malaria in hospital in Trento, we have been treating it as a very serious case. Experts were immediately sent to look further into both the disease and its transmission”.

ROME- This morning, at 9:45, an employee of the Italian Ministry of Economic Development fell from the forth floor to his death while working at the ministry. The 58 year-old man, who was working in the see of via Lucullo, died on the spot before the arrival of any medical help.
While the causes remain unknown, the Italian police is investigating the occurrence, but at this stage the investigation seems to suggest it was a case of suicide. The investigation is still ongoing.
