 RIMINI- The search for four men who brutally attacked two Polish tourists in this popular Adriatic resort was stepped up Monday, police said. The attackers held the Polish couple hostage on the beach of the popular northern Italian tourist resort Friday night. He was beaten up. She was raped. A transvestite from Peru was also later attacked, it is thought by the same men of swarthy appearance, suspected of being north Africans, police sources said.

 TRENTINO- Third victim of Dolomites fall announced. 13 year old Cesare Zibioni died in hospital. He is the third person to have been killed in the moutain accident which has left six people in hospital. Doctors continue fighting to save their lives. Several are thought to still be in a critical condition.

ROME - The tension has been rising in the Piazza dell’Indipendenza since Saturday, when about 100 immigrants were forcibly removed from a nearby building on Via Curtatone. The immigrants have been camping out in the gardens for days. Rocks, bottles and canisters have been thrown, and a water cannon has even been used.

ROME - Rome’s mayor, Virginia Raggi, has announced Gianni Lemmetti as the new Councillor of Rome’s budget, taking over Andrea Mazzillo’s previous position. Raggi wrote in a post in Facebook: “Welcome to my team Gianni Lemmeti. From today he will be in charge of the budget and the accounts of Rome.”

CERIGNOLA - A man was shot and killed Thursday in this town in the province of Foggia in another apparent settling of scores between rival clans of the  Sacra Corona Unità, the Apulian mafia, police said. The man was gunned down in an ambush on the road leading to Cerignola, in front of the cemetery. The killer fired their gun directly into the face of the victim.
