 ROME – Demonstrations took place throughout Italy on Thursday morning to remember the innocent victims of the mafia, sources said. 

 March 21 is the National Day of Remembrance for Innocent Victims of the Mafia, a day of remembrance and commitment that started in 1996 before becoming enshrined in law in 2017.

 One of the biggest protests was in Rome which was made up of an estimated 40,000 people. Relatives of mafia victims led the procession which was organised by the group Libera dalle Mafie.

 ROME – An Iranian woman was found dead inside a car with her boyfriend in Secondigliano, Naples, police said. The Iranian moral police have refused to allow her family to repatriate her body on the basis that she was a “sinner.”

 Vida Shahvalad, 21, was studying in Caserta and living in Naples at the time of her death. She and her boyfriend, Vincenzo Nocerino, were found inside a parked car in a garage in Secondigliano.

 ROME -- As the curtain came down on rugby’s international interlude, the Six Nations has left fans and pundits satiated from a show full of spectacle, drama, and surprises. But there was one sub-plot which no one had been expecting. Italy, registering their best ever Six Nations campaign, had been transformed.

 With two wins, one draw, and 11 points, few had expected to see Gli Azzurri look so rejuvenated. It would have been even better too if Paolo Garbisi had converted his last-gasp penalty against France.

 ROME -- The 2024 Indian Wells ATP Masters 1000 tournament exceeded all expectation. Which isn’t to say it was an unalloyed joy for on-site fans. Christened the Sunshine Double – the event’s first leg in the California desert was short on heat and long on precipitation. Rain frequently interrupted matches in the early rounds, and temperatures for evening events plunged to the mid-50’s, leaving many courtside seats conspicuously empty and others occupied by shivering spectators huddled under umbrellas, as if at Wimbledon.
